ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Tell your Story Category:This is an opportunity to impact, challenge and thereby change the world by telling your story online. To participate, submit an interesting story about your work, interests or events related to solving the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs and guided by the theme of the competition.

You stand the chance to win lots of prizes and be recognized for your outstanding contribution to the sustainable development of Africa. Participants will be able to create compelling, user-friendly web apps with narrative text, images and multimedia content. Using the ArcGIS Online platform, you can tell your stories because “Everyone indeed has a story to tell”. Winning submissions will be featured on the GEO-HACKATHON platform.

GUIDELINES


Eligibility: Only the staff and students of the University of Ibadan are eligible to participate in this contest.

ArcGIS Online Account: You must use your University of Ibadan ArcGIS Online Account password to participate in this competition.If you don’t have an account click here to register.....Register Now

You will receive an email with your username and password. Please contact the university's esri administrator If after 24hrs of registration and you have not recieved an email. uigistrd@gmail.com

Fee: Participation in the GEOHACKATHON and usage of ESRI software is FREE for students and staff of the University of Ibadan.
Submission: Submission can be individual or as a team of two to five students. There is no limit on the number of entries per student or team.
Dates: From the 15th of January, 2019, weekly announcements will be made of winning submissions and the Grand Prize winner will be announced at the launch of the Geo-Hackathon Mega Competition in March 2019.
Scoring Criteria
Entries will be judged based on their: 1- Effectiveness in making the subject matter interesting and understandable. 2- Provision of an engaging user experience, · Introduction (Title and Project geographic area clearly defined) 5 marks · Overall design and creativity (use of maps, pictures, videos…) 20 marks · Content 15 marks · Summary and Conclusion 10 marks
